Ask a good friend of yours to loan you a couple hundred bucks. Any good friend would understand something like that, no questions asked. Think about it, I have friends who are just as bad off as I am, and I know for a fact they'd do pretty much anything for me if I asked them to. Think about it. Christmas, in my humble opinion, -and I do NOT mean offense by this- is actually more about friends than family..... Always felt that way about holidays, birthdays, etc. Anyways, bye bye, good luck with that.

Pay your major bills. House, Utilities, Car - Everything else screw them until Jan. That is what I tell them. I will resume payments in Jan. Especially if your credit is ruined anyway. Or what ever you send they aren't going to be happy anyway. So why pay them on time.

Watch the sales and shop wisely to get your gifts. After Christmas go to wal-mart and buy next years wrapping paper at more than half the price. I paid 25 cents to 1 dollar for my paper.

Buy your gifts next year starting around June and just put them away. Check your local food pantry for christmas baskets.

Some of the best gifts I ever recevied were hand made with much love,i.e. baked goodies, candies, any tastful artwork and craft hand made items. Soaps, a ticket to an inexpensive art show or play but the food items were especially welcomed and don't have to cost an arm and a leg. Use your imagination.

If an elderly recepient, offer to drive them to appointments and give them a "book of tickets" good for plays, dentist, doctor, vistation to a hopitalized friend-or one in a care facilitiy-etc. Those only cost the gas and time and those of of little value compared to the joy it gives your elderly friend.

I know in every city there is a toy drive at Christmas. Those toys must go someplace. I would think there would be a way to sign up as a recipient. Doesn't the Marine Corps have a toy drive?

Don't let your finances get you down.

Get off Yahoo answers and get a second job.

Get your wife to work.

Stop buying lotto and scratch offs and stick to a strict budget (food/gas)

Ask a friend or family member for some help

Contact the bank and let them know you can't pay the mortgage for December, they'll work with you.

Sell one of your children (just kidding, your children are precious)

Have a garage sale and sell some stuff (you'd be surprised)

Pawn your wedding ring and then buy it back in a month or two.

Apply for another credit card and charge this christmas

Go to your church and let them help you and your family.

Oh! I may many more

Xmas

It made me sad to read this. How many kids do you have? I'm a toy designer, and although I dont get much from our company, I could probably send a couple little things your way. You can contact me through this site by going to my profile and clicking on "contact".

Go to your local Church and explain to the pastor that you are having hard times at the moment. I'll be praying for you.

You posted this under genealogy. So, unless you're looking for help searching for your family tree. This is the wrong topic for you.
