Adam and Eve?

Question

Is the entire Christian belief based upon incest of these two people or incest of anyone in that matter? Maybe I'm showing my ignorance here but if Adam and Eve had kids how would it be anything but incest. And doesn't that not allow enough genetic variation in such a small time allotment.

Adam and Eve were perfect until the fall.They had many sons and daughters(Gen. 5),So many that in 100 years they'd have spread and become virtual strangers.When you live 800 yrs 150 year old broad ain't so bad.So you marry a niece,a sister,you have 5 or 6 wives .You'll notice ,the life spans become shorter and shorter as the genetics and the environment get more and more polluted.Even Abraham,a couple thousand years after A & E ,marries his 1/2 sister.Finally when the gene pool got weak enough ,God told Moses to put a stop to interfamily marriage.Which was about 2500 years after Adam and Eve.
By the way,Genesis in the Old Testament was written by Moses,not a Christian.

Adam and Eve had more than just the offspring mentioned in the Bible. There is no distinct number, but we can't assume that those were the only children. The reason the law prohibited intermarriage between close relatives was because of issues with genetic problems, and of course sexual abuse. These were not issues then. The genetic issue was not a problem becuase they were the first generation of pure genetic origin. The sexual abuse issue is not a problem, because they had no-one else to marry. I'm not saying that it did happen. It doesn't say in the Bible that it did, but it seems logical that intermarriage between Adam's offspring happened. It's our sinful sick minds that make this seem sick.

first off, get your terms correct. incest is sex with your children.

brothers and sisters did marry during the beginning of our race but this is not acceptable any more, because of all the years and the ravages of sin on our gene pool such unions now would create problems.

how about evolution? seems like there would have been a first human to evolve then a second, (thank God they were male and female) or did hundreds of apes turn into humans at the same time?

I'm Roman Catholic and I go to church once every 2-3 months and for xmas and easter (that is NOT alot). You're interpreting the bible way too literally. Adam and Eve is simply a story about the temptations of men and women, and it is meant to teach you a lesson about greed, evil, and modesty. It's not "based on the incest of" adam and eve. It's a way way WAY bigger picture than that!!!

Were it is wrong is in the bible everybody misses this but go read it your self, On the 6th day God created man and women and it was good, this was not Adam and eve yet it was the creation of all the races, then it says he rested the 7th day and then on the next day the 8th day he created Adam to till the ground, he needed a gardener for the garden, before that he created hunters and fisherman, Go rad it your self its the first page of Genesis.

Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, not the only man and woman. Read Genesis a little bit......it's all right there in the very first chapter of the Bible.

Actually Eve is Adam's genetic clone just with an extra X chromosome and no Y. Then whenever Adam and Eve decided to mate God would place Uranium near them so that their genes will mutate enough so we're all not retarded.

They may have easily been created with a bigger gene pool. Another theory is than God may have not stopped creating after Adam and Eve. But you do raise a good point.
