My fiance is a hunter so over the years that I have known him I have learned a few things about venison....its only good in the freezer for a year.....so if it was in December of last year when it was put in the freezer then it should still be good......otherwise I would throw it out.

Venison will keep for a year if it is packaged correctly. I had some not too long ago and it was okay. Just make sure it isn't freezer burned.

I was given a stack of venison (deer) hamburger patties wrapped in foil. They had been in the company lab reefer, way in back of the freezer, for two years. I was allowed to take them home. I thawed them out, mixed in some lard, having been told that venison is very dry. I grilled them: they were delicious! and we didn't get sick. Venison sossies? To die for!!

The meat will still be good but after about six months deer will start drying out and pick up a bad taste.Chunk it out to the dog.

As long as they haven't thawed in between, they'll be fine. They may taste a bit of the freezer, but shouldn't make you sick.

If it is vacuum sealed it might be okay, check for freezer burnt. My aunt use to say.... when in doubt, thro it out. Food is cheaper than a hospital bill.
