Myth?

Sorry to break the news but vampires are real. Though vampirism in the media is different than that of reality it still exists. Vampirism is a type of syndromatic disease that causes the body to undergo perfect regeneration (no aging effect) through an enzymatic process that is attained from being infected by someone already possessing the disease and processes. This process is fueled by the consumption of proteins and other such materials found in human blood. While they possess fangs, which are like that of a snake in nature being retractable, they are not like canines and actually protrude from the canine teeth.

Unlike the myths of vampirism, they are not allergic to the sun (that is something of a different sort that may affect "creatures of the night"), and can have a higher physical constitution than other people due to the heart and other organs being able to stay functional at lower levels of functionality; in other words, they can be killed just as easily as anyone else by typical weapons.

Vampires are fixated upon by Christianity because it is only through the power of Christ through a dedication of repentance by the act of the Sacrament of the Altar that a vampire can attain eternal life not in this world but the next. It has been popularized since the fifteenth century as a result the concept of the vampire became only myth in more recent years.

Correct Answer: It doesn't, anymore then any other myth. It does however fascinate teens who dye their hair funky colors.

Dumb Answer: It is because Christians ARE vampires, sucking the blood of christ in order to save their immortal souls.

Does it? I thought it was a fairly new thing - post Polidori, about 1800 AD. Stoker's Dracula was 1890. If Christians are fascinated now, it's just a fetish thing. I know elements of gay culture fascinated with vampires as well.
