This is the riddle...
There once was a man named Garry. Garry lived alone but didn't mind, he liked it that way. He left his home only to buy food, suplies and such. But he was easily startled.
One night Garry heard a strange noise outside the window. Frightened, Garry made sure all of the doors and windows were shut and locked before turning off all the lights and going to bed.
The nest day, the police came to Garry's house and told him that, because of his actions last night, fourteen people died.
How?

Okay, Garry lived in his car. He was driving, when a car whizzed by. He then rolled up his windows, turned off the light, and fell asleep at the wheel. He caused a bus with 14 people to veer off the road, off a cliff. In the morning, the police found him.

When Garry went for food he was drunk. Therefore, his
erratic driving caused two cars to have an accident.
Hence, 14 people died, without Garry even seeing the
accident.

Garry was in charge of a lifeboat. The noise he heard was the sound of a ship breaking up on the rocks.

He didn't check to see what the noise was. Therefore people could have gotten hurt right outside his window.
