As someone who has just recently had my financial rug pulled out from under me, I most definitely understand how you are feeling just now. Let's hope that those people who sit so high on their thrones and give such high handed responses never have to go through what we are going through at the moment ... for both the sake of themselves and their beloved pets.

Recently, I answered a similar question for someone else. Click on this link to that question; you will find my response immediately beneath the poster's question. Within my response are a number of links that might prove helpful to you.

There are also these sites that provide info and / or links to other financial aid organizations :

If I were you, even if, for whatever reason, not one of the sites provided here can actually help you, I would still contact each of them ... there's always the chance that they have access to a networking system and can direct you to an organization that can help you.

My very best wishes to you and your beloved pet.

How much time has gone by that he hasn't eaten? Do you have a regular vet? If you do I don't see any reasons why they won't let you make payments till the bill is paid off. CALL THEM!!!!Or borrow the $$$$$ off someone. DO SOMETHING!!! DON'T Just let the dog die!! I do know that a dog who doesn't have an appetite should be feed fried hamburger(grease drained) and added to cooked white rice. A vet told me that long ago.As to why he is very sleepy is a ? only the vet can answer for sure. I hope and pray you're able to get your dog seen by a vet and he is up and playing real soon!!!

When a dog is very ill, if you feed him you may hurt him depending on WHY the dog is ill. Contact the ASPCA in your area and explain your situation. Organizations like that will often help with an animal though you may have to relinquish your dog while they check it out and check out whether you are able to otherwise care for him. It sounds to me like you love your dog and would rather give him up than let him die not getting help. That is a terrible place to be in. I wish you weren't having to deal with this. Another possibility is calling a Golden Retriever rescue. Oftentimes popular breeds have a rescue organization and they don't put animals to sleep unless they were not able to save them and the animal was in pain.
Here are some Golden Retriever rescue sites in different cities. If you don't live near there, at least contact them for whatever might possibly be in your area.

You can also try typing in "Golden Retriever Rescue (your city, or large city nearest you) and then search for the one closest to you.

I would try to get him to eat rice with hamburger and or chicken mixed in with the rice,,, try cottage cheese, yogurt, baby food and if he is not drinking then force fluids down him,, i would get him so pedilyte the stuff that you give a baby when they are sick and cant keep stuff down,,, I would at least call the vet and see what you can do for him and see if you can make payments or call the local animal shelter and see if they can help you with the bills cause they may see that you really do care about your boy,,, I hope this helps and good luck with him and this dont make you a bad pet parent cause you are have a hard time with money cause everyone has hard times keep me up dated on him you can email me if you have any more questions at hunterdog_34@yahoo.com

ask the vet if they will let you have free/reduced cost care with a monthly payment plan. you would be suprised, most will let you do this. also try a humane clinic, and depending on where you live if there is a veterinary school/college near you often they are inexpensive or free for very high quality care. if you really can't take care of the dog then you shouldn't own it, so give it to a no-kill shelter with the largest donation you can afford to help the shelter care for it.

We all get into financial troubles, but that doesn't mean your dog should suffer so I would try to get Care-Credit, go to a pawn shop, check and go places, sell DVDs, Cd's or clothes to a resale place because if your dog is truly sick getting him to eat won't make him all better.
Boiled chicken breast, plain rice, baby food, yogurt, cottage cheese, and plain lean hamburger are all bland foods dogs readily eat.
Very sleepy is VERY scare! Can a friend or relative help because I would be afraid your dog might die.

You need to know what the problem is before you can treat the problem. What is he doing? Has he gotten into something - Poison? Crusty eyes / nose? Blood in stools?

Be your own investigator and go from their. If it is something serious he will need to see a vet. Ask if they have a payment plan.

Call the humane society and explain your situation, they will help with free or low-cost vet care and this will only stregthen you telling them how much you really care for him because if you wait much longer they may think that instead of true concern, it is a case of neglect. They may even help by taking him to the clinic and bringing him home for you.

its okay if you have a situation that came up so you cant pay.dont feel guilty about your circumstances.if you take your dog to a humane soceity they'll help you.if your dog is just not eating for less than 48 hrs. he should be okay.are there any other symptoms?? you 've gotta give us more details to work off of. shes probably not dying but YOU SHOULD STILL TAKE HER TO THE HUMANE SOCEITY they will be willing to give treatment for veeeeeeeery cheap or at no cost.

take him to the vet and tell the vet you will pay what you can over a period of time otherwise you might lose him. He could be constipated, that you would know if he is going or not. If he is not, get him a laxative.
