how about asking "WHATS IN YOUR DOGS FOOD?" or "IS CHEAPER PET FOOD WORTH THE COST?"
alot of people simply beleive the commercials that their food is good food but think of it.. if a food is paying alot for commercials.. then how much money are they spending on quality ingredients in the food??
ok compare 3-5 well known foods..(I dont know what country you are in but will assume North America)
ok take 3 foods from grocery store.. Purina.. ALpo.. and Iams.. then take 2 from Pet Supply Store Science Diet and Innova or Canidae...
now look up on internet the ingredient lists
you will find some shocking things...
ALL grocery store brands are CRAP using FILLERS and containing very little actual nutrition
(filler - corn, wheat, soy, by-products which are beaks feet feathers)
they are CHEAP - but your dog has to eat alot more food to get a meat protien...so in the long run it costs more plus more poop
ok Science DIet is an example of overpirced crap.. they PAID for vet endorsement (vets actually receive very little or NO training on ingredients and brands)
Canidea.. Wellness, Innova, Nutram.. are all examples of PREMIUM level foods - you can see they actually have a good meat source as # 1 ingredient.. not cheap fillers.. you feed less - dog poops less.. has fewer health problems...
SOOOOooo buying better food saves in the long run

You could re-create Pavlov's experiment with conditioning, which was basically that he'd ring a bell when it was time to feed the dogs. After a while, the dogs would salivate when he rang the bell even if it wasn't dinner time. Of course, you'd probably want to try to switch it up a little.
A neat experiment I did when I was little involved my overweight hound, Bisquit (I know, but my dad insisted we spell her name with a "Q"). I decided to see if diet and exercise would be more effective than diet alone. For two weeks, I fed the dog her normal 1.5 cups of dog food, but cut out giving her table scraps and treats. Then we continued the diet for two more weeks with the addition of a two mile walk each day. I weighed the dog every day and charted her weight. It's not really a perfect experiment, as there was only the one dog, but it was fun (and got her down to a normal weight for her size)!

You can do a project on how dog's companion increases humans life's span versus not having a dog. Or you can do a project on what kinds of brands that are offered as dog food and show what is the best kind for your dog's nutritional needs.

haha i just did one last year. i tried to see which food dogs like best. chicken or beef. both by purina. I would put them both down in front of them. And see which one they went to every time. Which one they went to first at least. I would record it for a certain amount of days. All of the dogs turned out to like the chicken.

have a video recorder running in your home while you are miles away and as you get closer in your car, you'll see your dog get ready for your arrival even though it is impossible for them to see or smell you coming (they'll get all excited and go to the window or door)
