The reason I ask is because "god" (in one form or another) was once the answer for EVERYTHING, but thanks to brave people (scientists mostly) who challenged the entrenched theology of the day, we learned that the earth wasn't flat, developed medicine, flight, and so on.
Modern civilization is a result of bold men who said "no" to theology, and "yes" to science. Each time they demanded naturalistic answers to questions, they discarded "god", and in so doing, discovered the truth. It wasn't easy, (it was often deadly) but the results are evident.
Progress.
Why be content with hackneyed answers like "god created the universe", or "god created people", when it's clear that finding out the real truth to every single question we ask undeniably improves life for all mankind?
Saying "god" is the answer may feel good, but it's no more productive than saying "I don't know." Knowledge improves the human condition. Don't you want to know?

first of all- if not Him, where did everything come from? A big blod in space? Where did space come from? Aliens? Where did aliens come from? All of those theories are just a bunch of bull people made up to feel like they are smarter than anyone, especially God. Seriously, where did it come from? Did the whole universe come out of nothing by itself? If you say 'it has always been there,' that is ridiculous. Always? A blob of stuff has always been sitting there and then it forms everything? I'm not buying it.

Anthropomorphic; manifesting in human form. It is from the Greek "anthropos" meaning "man" and "morphe" meaning "form." In biblical theology, God is described in anthropomorphic terms; that is, in human terms with human attributes. For example, God has hands and feet in Exodus 24:9-11 and is loving (1 John 4:8).
1 Thessalonians 5:21 says to "test everything". "Everything" means more than just the Biblical information. Acts 17:11 also approves of checking up on people, "But the people of Beroea were more open minded than those in Thessalonica, and gladly listened to the message. They searched the Scriptures day by day to check up on Paul and Silas' statements, to see if they were really so." The great Welsh preacher Arthur Burt also agrees. "Truth demands independent witness," he preaches. "Test it! It's your responsibility to test what I say!"

Science discovers more and more things that we don't know. The more we learn, the more we see that we don't know yet.
The human genome project was supposed to the be final answer to so many medical problems, and prove evolution, etc. Guess what? Science is now re-mapping the genome, because the first model was inadequate. It did not prove enough in some things, and it proved too much in other areas.
Yes, religion has been abused; but so has science.
And the first things of science, the axioms and postulates, cannot be proven but must be accepted,
WAIT FOR IT,
HOLD YOUR BREATH,
by faith, of all things.
Science is a religion after all!

While I agree that progress comes from those willing to stand apart from others and prove their ideas and invention - I think many of those scientists we believers in god. In fact, I submit to you that every advance that has been made in the course of humanity has been not a desire to discount god but a desire to understand and emulate god in the marvels we see around us - and much of science exists to search for an answer they know they will never have - just as the religions do. There is no way to know the Unknowable, but we all try in our way. Science, Medicine, Psychology, Philosophy, Exploration, Religion, Reaching Space - we do it all to better understand ourselves, our world, our purpose and our origins.
Peace!

The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first time a species achieves sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods.

Science has not proven anything to Christians. We read in the Bible simple things like mountains in the oceans, and scientist spend millions of dollars to say "Mountains found in the ocean". Knowledge is good, but Jesus does more for the human condition than anything. He forgives human error, and changes human condition. Lets see any scientist that can forgive me of my sins. You would do well to read the Bible and lay aside your 7th grade science book.

Not only that, I acccept G-d as the correct answer for things humans think they have figured out! Its my right.
You want to talk progress? Look at crime and morals 100 years ago, when the Bible was in schools and G-d was part of culture, government and peoples lives. And look at them now. How does logic tell you taking another step away from G-d is possibly the right way to go?

Mmm yea well God HAS the answer but he wants us to discover it for ourselves. So we still have to go out and discover stuff, but it's nice to know someone has the answer....

He is not only the answer to things we can't figure out, He is the answer to a lot of things that people THINK they have figured out.
