Say you are at a party at a friend's home and you use the bathroom. After using the toilet, what do you do if some residue remailns stuck to the bottom of the bowl. I don't mean actual stools but just streaks and spots. Further assume there is no toilet brush in the bathroom and that flushing again does not help. Oh yes, and there are others waiting to use the bathroom. What does good etiquette dictate in this situation?

Good question!

You flush a second time and with more tissue in hand, as the water is flushed out, quickly wipe the edge of the bowl. You only have seconds to do this before water flows into the bowl again.

Another solution that works well. Before passing a stool, lay a long strip of toilet paper down the inside of the toilet bowl. The stool will drop on the toilet paper and be swished away with the first flush.

Walk out of the toilet with a disgusted look on your face and wonder aloud who made the mess in there without cleaning it up :)

But ponder the fact also, if the home owner has no cleaning products in there toilet they probably dont really give a **** ... oooops pardon the pun

If you left residoo-doo in the form of skidmarks don't worry or be ashamed. Be PROUD!! Did you also leave some residoo-ddo in the bottom of the bowl? You know, those little flakes that couldn't quite make over the top of the pipe on the way out. Please don't confuse these with floaters.

i would say if there was a toilet brush nearby or even a plunger try to just wipe it off with that. if not throw some more toilet paper in and hope it wipes off...if that does not work then jsut swallow hard and be embarassed for a few hours.

Life's too short to worry.....but the line outside the bathroom isn't. S*** happens....move on! However, you could turn the light off on your way out for 2 reasons: 1) They don't know what's going on until they shut the door and you're running away! 2) When (if) they notice the stains, it was dark...so they won't remember what the person who left the nastiness looked like! :)

Etiquette schmettiquette...we all take a crap...period...it happens everywhere...it may be stinky or nasty, but is a natural occurence...if I leave streaks behind, I just walk out with my head up like "oh well its only natural" ...at least you didn't do it in your pants...now THAT would be embarassing ;)

Flush several times and grab a wad of tissue and scrub it off. Then wash your hands thoroughly. What about the smell you leave behind?

LOL, omg this is so funny.
actually, when there's no brush, well then that's not your fault.
embarrased as you are nothing you could do or say.
you're not gonna come out and say "omg! ms T. I'm so sorry but I just left this and that in your toilet!" lol.

dont do anything. They wont know that it was you who left it. If it didnt come off when you flushed again, it probably wont come off when the next person goes to the bathroom. They will probably think it was someone else.
