Russia is divided continentally by the ural mountains. They arent much of a mountain range but they do represent the continental divide. Moscow and St Petersberg are part of Europe. Kazan, Nizhney Novgorod and others are asia. Russians typically dont consider themselves to be asian as we in the US would think of asians. Iraqis dont consider themselves asian either. Iraq is part of the asian continent though. So if you were to list Russia in a list of continents you would have to give it to both asia and europe even though some argue that since the capital is in europe it should be european.

Same as Turkey, the Eastern side of Russia(especially the notable Siberia) belongs to Asia. The Western side belongs to Europe. For Turkey, it's Istanbul westwards - Europe, and Anatolia (Asia Minor) is Asia.

The eastern part of Russia is in Asia; the western part is in Europe.

It is PART of Asia, but it is not IN Asia. People really need to see the difference between the two. Remember that part of Russia is still in Europe. And most of the well-known cities come from the Eastern-European part.
