I would alternate between a couple doses of orange juice. And then a small spoon of aloe vera gel with a bit of water swished in your mouth and swallowed down different sides of your throat. Keep repeating several times a day. A good web source for remedies is www.webmd.com\ Strep throat is basically a bad sore throat and that should help. But a doctors visit wouldn't hurt.

Yes, strep is usually contagious. You should go to the doctor if you suspect strp throat. Indications are a fever, puss sacks and redness. The doctor will give you a throat culture (basically like swiping a cotton swab on the back of your throat) and can get the results immediately. If strep throat is confirmed you will be prescribed antibiotics. When I get strp throat I usually get a pretty bad fever. Gargling with salt water, sucking on ice cubes and using chloroseptic provides temporary relief until you can get to the doctor.

Strep throat can be caused by a virus or by a bacteria. The only way to tell them apart is through a mouth swab test. The bacterial is the one known as "strep throat" and yes it is contagious and you defenitely need to contact a doctor to prevent the bacteria to go sytemic blood borne. You need to be placed on antibiotics such as penicillin. Ignoring this can lead to some serious heart problems later in life.

Get it treated right away! It is a highly contagious bacterium and can cause Scarlet Fever, and that can damage your heart valves (in addition to other organ damage).
