I think the urban legend might hinge upon the Christian prejudice that first made the assertion that this was devil music .
The movie just capitalized upon the idea and tried to entertain the thought outside and beyond it's origin and reason . Which would one truly consider worse the fantasy of deals with satan or the prejudice that started the premise? I really see no way of determining what Mr. Johnson actually thought ....Sorry.

Only Robert and Satan really know the answer to that question. Its a shame he didn't live longer - he was like many other musicians who were taken from this earth without us knowing how far they could go, and what they could really acheive. (eg Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhodes and other guitarists who were way ahead of their time) We can be thankful for what they have left us and for the legacy and legend that will live on in the hearts of musicians around the world forever.
