Is it mean of me to have said that I wouldn't go out with him, but would with his friend when he asked me out?? He really likes me but I really like his friend. The first few times he asked me out I politely said no, but this last time I said (See above) Was that mean?? He and I are good friends still but he still likes me. Why can't he take a hint?? Was it mean to say that??

it is never mean when your telling the truth. It was good that you were nice the first three times but now he knows how you feel.

Yes, it was mean. I wouldn't surprised if you've really hurt him. Is he still your friend? Don't be surprised if you find out he isn't.
