Yours problem is not just how to add to powerpoint but also to download it from you tube, edit it and then put it to powerpoint.
I guess you have the video. Now you can edit it using windows movie maker or virtual dub (www.sourceforge.net)- free software for video editing.

Now in poerpoint, go to insert>movies&sounds>movie from file.
Note that when you will do the presentation, this movie file has to be in the same folder as your orginal powerpoint presentation file is located. otherwise it wouldn't play.
One work around it to use pack&go service in powerpoint. You can find it under tools. But if it is not installed, you need to add this feature from your office cd.
Pack&Go makes a different file containing all included movie sound etc. You can also try saving as powerpoint show file bt I doubt it will still require the video to be present in your pc.
Enjoy!

You first have to save a copy of the file to your computer. Once saved to your computer, you can easily insert it into your powerpoint presentation by simply going to Insert (Located on the menu bar), then Movies and Sounds, and then Movie from File. Locate the file, and place it in its proper location treating it like it were a drawing/picture. Whenever you click on slide show, it will automatically play. To edit the file, you need to have some kind of video editing software like Roxio Video. You can probably down something that will serve your purpose from www.download.com (or www.cnet.com and click downloads) Good luck!

YouTube uses the flash player technology to play videos along the web. Microsoft windows and all of its components excluding internet explorer doesn't natively support the flash videos and sounds from adobe. So you can’t just add a flash video to Microsoft office PowerPoint
