My DMD took two x-rays. In both x-rays...the mass was present. She referred me to an Oral Surgeon, and he also took two x-rays. (The x-rays from my previous DMD show no mass below the roots. I had x-rays taken less than two years ago). I had a biopsy today, and my DMD said that she will have my results in a few days. Could this just be a cyst? Can a mass just disappear? Is this normal?

sure, it could be a cyst. if you had an excisional biopsy (meaning they hauled the whole thing out) then problem solved. usually.

That what oral surgeons are for, solving those tricky little problems!

a lot of cysts are pretty harmless, but some are nasty and some are recurrent. the worst case scenario (unlikely, so don't freak out!) is something destructive where they'd have to section out a chunk of jawbone. HOwever, seems like you caught it pretty early, so that's good.

Just make sure you stay on top of it! good luck!
