Hopefully it will just go away quietly soon enough. Not until the majority of people are taught a bit about critical thinking though.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, they will have to put up with us being in their face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let them know that they will not be allowed to carry out their silly "End Times" rubbish that they seem to forget would include the rest of us and if society doesn't get on board society will not survive.

Nope, because man is somehow bound to religion. Even Atheism exhibits religiosity. In it's attemtp to prosletyze and convert the believers, and in the development of an actual secular humanist church, espousing the ideas of benevolence, they, too, are a religion in their own right.
The banning together of like-minded people will always yield discord until, rather than banning religion, the human race grows up to believe that we all simply have different beliefs and ideals. Coming to the point where we outlaw rather than religion, the concept that one group is able to have exclusive access to some ultimate truth will have a better effect than outlawing religion.

if a society can't have free thought there is no longer a society- just a group of people who think what they are told and do what they are told by some dictator.
and froma psyc. prospective everyone needs something to believe in- even if you believe in a magic pencil- just so when things get bad and you can't handle them alone there is something there to remind you that it's not the end of your life- that things can survive and overcome
