CO2 is carbon dioxide. CO is carbon monoxide.

depends what you're burning and with what?

If you're burning hydrogen with oxygen, you get
water.

If you're burning a hydrocarbon...like wood, petroleum, gasoline, paper with oxygen
you get water, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide,
and other stuff depending upon the exact composition and the degree of combustion.

The oxidized version of whatever is burning. I think 95% of the time it is carbon-dioxide.
