i've been invited to an engagement party for the first time. is it customary to give a gift to the soon-to-be bride and groom?
if so, then what is appropriate?
the bride is my next door neighbor; and her fiancee is a douche bag from my rival college...

Get him a jersey or a football paraphenelia from your own college, wrap it up in nice wedding paper, and take it over. You may want to take a crystal candlestick for the bride if you value your friendship with your neighbor. Good luck.

It is appropriate to give a gift. Normally I would say a $50 check is sufficient to help with wedding costs. Since money is not an issue I would buy them a gift. You can ask them if they have a registry. If they do not have a registry, a classic gift such as sterling silver candle stick holders, pretty champagne flutes, a Lenox wedding portrait frame, or something of the nature would be acceptable.

I was taught that if you give a gift at the engagement party, you do not need to give one at the wedding itself.
If you are not good friends with these people, or do not plan to attend the wedding, give a small but thoughtful gift like a bottle of wine they might enjoy.

I have continually taken a present. because they already stay mutually makes it a touch extra reachable. certain they do have each and every thing, in which case you may comprehend what desires to get replaced or what they could want. a present card continually works ... perhaps to purpose, mattress bath and previous, bath and body Works, in spite of the indisputable fact that. the proper in this class can be a present certificate for a couples rubdown. in case you at the instantaneous are not searching to spend a lot, like someone suggested a image body or bottle of wine must be effective, or you ought to provide them a scrap e book so the can initiate saving their ideas, or a image album. relying on how close you adult men are humorous presents are also o.k. well known. presents or no present? certain, present. If each and every thing else fails provide them something both easily one of them can appreciate, something that ought to help strengthen the stress of the marriage.

If he's 36 and still quibbling over a college rivalry you should get her the gift of a good divorce attorney....she's marrying an immature child.
