I am looking in to moving to Roanoke , VA and I am curious what makes a commonwealth state diffrent from all the others...is it a good or bad thing for it to be a commonwealth and why??

Good question - something I've wondered about but have never been able to find an answer to. What I have noticed in my travels is that (at least it seems so) that commonwealth governments get into your personal business more then others.

It is no different than any other state. It just means the state professes a responsibility to its people to govern by their consent. All other states do this too, but do not use the word because it is unnecessary.
