my dad left his hot chocolate unattended like always and i caught our dog drinking it. i dont know how much she drank. is she gonna die? cause i know dogs arent supposed to have chocolate.
shes a cocker spaniel (in case her size matters).

this is like the 3rd time this has happened this week. my parents caught her the other 2 times and didnt call the vet or anything

If she only drank a little she'll probably be okay. But most hot chocolate is made with cocoa, which is chocolate in it's extreme form. If it were my dog, just to be sure she doesn't get sick, I would give half an ounce of hydrogen peroxide to make her vomit...this will only work if she drank it in the last half hour though.
Edit: If this has happened 3 times already you better tell your dad to deal with himself, or she's going to die.

I would think she will be ok cause my daughter and i was make No Bake Cookies and left a can of cocoa the baking kind and my dog got into it and i was just as worried as you are and called the vet and she said to just keep an eye on her and she should be fine but if she starts to show any signs of lathargic to take her in asap and she was just fine so i would just keep an eye on your dog and take her to the vet if she seems like she just wants to just lay around I hope this helps and just keep an eye on your dog and try to keep the chocolate up away from her from now on cause its really not good for them at all and can be toxic to them

I really doubt the dog is going to die. BUT chocolate is bad for dogs. would say he will be fine, hot chocolate is very diluted and it would have to be excessive amounts, he may start to be sick or has diarrhea if it gets worse than that then take him immediately to the vets..
I'm pretty sure its 1oz of chocolate to 1lb body weight that can be toxic so i'm pretty sure your dog didnt have anything near that amount.

She will most likely be OK because it is mainly dark chocolate that will kill them but a lot of milk chocolate can kill them I would take her to the vet just in case but chances are that she will be just fine even if you don't take her in just try to keep all chocolate out of her reach in the future. i love dogs and i think u should take her to the vet just in case but i dont know if u should worry cause my cousins dog ate like half a bag of chocolate powder and hes fine we were really scared lol he found it on the floor so yea and hes a yorkie much smaller.( i think lol )
