That's what the invitation suggests:

My wife is buying herself a nice dress and shoes, and stuff....

I want to wear new black 501s, and new brown work boots.

She's trying to make me go buy slacks, nice button up shirt, and black shoes.

This is for a Company Christmas party at the Flamingo Hotel.

I'm trying to tell her it will be fine wearing work boots!! They're new for crying out loud!!

Who's right here??

She's mostly right. The Flamingo Hotel is kind of fancy. You can wear the 501's if new, with a nice shirt and shoes. Work boots are a no no.

Afraid the wife is right. Jeans are jeans are jeans, and they are not company party attire. Work boots - are W*O*R*K boots, for, come on, you can guess it.......W*O*R*K!! Get in the spirit and dress up pretty for the wife and the company, it won't kill you!

Do you want everyone to think your wife married an idiot? Do as your wife says! Get the new clothes and shoes.

And have a good time!

Work boots are neither festive nor evening wear even if the are new. Listen to your wife.

Festive casual is amazingly obtrusive. shades of the season, yet in sturdy flavor. smart casual is casual, yet stylish....top scale casual. No denims, yet no suits. Sharp creases on pleats and trousers/slacks, shined footwear, hair finished....etc.
