as a western Muslim i find that in many of the mosques in the west the Muslim are using the mosque for a place to meet up with friends or to talked to people rather than using it for worship.do you think imams of mosque should start stopping this trend of using the mosque as a country club

When you say "many", how many are you talking about?
I don't see it the way you see it. Islam promotes friendship and trust between Muslims, and the mosque is a secure sanctity where people can go to worship God.
The mosque should not be used as a country club, but I can understand what you are talking about. To Westerners, it may seem that way, but in Islamic cultural societies, the Mosque is like a smaller pilgrimage ecosystem, where Muslims have an opportunity to get to know one another between prayers, and share in the knowledge and blessings that Allah has bestowed upon them and their communities...

Mosque is not only for praying, but it also serves the purpose of studying, expanding knowledge, meet up new brothers and sisters and strengthen the bonds between the followers , to spread the religion . I think it is OK as long as it is not being use against the teaching. In some mosque they even gives lesson to children how to read the Quran

Coming from a catholic background (where the women would REALLY get way too dressed up and wear way too much make up in church- and flirt with boys in the pews and laugh and giggle and whisper during prayer service) I must tell you that the mosque for me is a real change. During prayer, everyone is praying, not chatting, not gosiping, ect.... I live in NYC and the mosque I go to at least: the women are friendly and chat outside or in the bathrooms, but they go to the mosques to pray.

No i don't think that mosques are being used as a country club.But a great place to worship and meet fellow Muslims,most people i know go for worship and nothing else.

It seems to me that everything in the west is more liberal and a lot of values have been lost. Why in the world would women go to church dressed like harlots?
