i have a 7 year old dachshund abd she really hates other dogs ......
Can i do anything to make her like them better or is all hope lost? also
she hates it when i pick her up? am i hurting her or does she just
not like me?

SHE TAKES THE VET FINE!!!! SHE JUST GROWLS AT OTHER DOGS AND WE TAP HER GENTLEY AND THE BUTT AND SAY NO SHE HAS ONE FREND AND THAT IS A BEAGLE NAME ANGEL!!!!!!! SHE MET HER WHEN SHE WAS LIKE 2 OR THREE SO I DONT KNOW WHY THAT IS THE THE ONLY DOG SHE LIKES!!!!!

7 years old is old to change behaviors but it's never too late. Maybe a beginner dog class. Don't tolerate aggressive behavior to other dogs. Tell her "no" firmly if she shows any aggression and squeeze her nose gently. do it over and over again. Place her in a sit stay and bring other dogs to her. Don't let her snap. She might be hurting but sounds like she doesn't like being handled. Does she hate it when the vet checks her out? I massage all my dogs including their gums from the time they're puppies so they get used to lots of handling.

As for getting her used to other dogs that is something I would suggest talking to a trainer about--About you picking her up and her hating it--Is this something that has just started or has she always been this way--Is she just upset when you pick her up or when anyone picks her up--If this just started I would say take her to a vet and have her checked out--Many dachshunds can hurt themselves jumping off the couch,bed etc and this is something that is serious if an injury has occured and I would def. take her to a vet and have it checked out--If she has always been this way Getting a check up is still not a bad idea but a good trainer could help with a behavior issue like that as well.

Your dog is just dominating you and other animals. You can look at the show The Dog Whisperer for help. Let her know that that behavior is unacceptable and she will probably stop. I would also take her to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong with her. Sounds like she has you under her thumb though. She probably loves you, but she is a dog and wants to be the pack leader.

It seems your dachshund has issues and behavioral problems. You need to go on Animal Planet's website and look for Pet section and go find a pet specialist, he or she can help you out on what and how to handle the situation. Where there is doubt, there is hope. I can also tell you that she may have a previous who missed treated her and she just needs your love, lots of it. Overtime, she will learn to love you and wants you to pet her. Also, you may want to find something that you and her can play together which may help her to open up and show her affection for you.

if its going to meet another dog, try doing it in a place shes never been before. If you make your dog meet another dog near your house our near the route where you walk her, she will think its her territory and defend it. so, if its a strange territory, she might get along better.

i dont think its too late to start taking classes and i can bet you she doesnt hate you do u pick her up to much or pet her i know that i used to do that to my cousins dog then stopped and now he likes me ALOT more good luck
