I'm also in my 20s and have to go about that often, so I feel your pain... Coke definitely makes things worse, because not only is caffeine a diuretic (making your kidneys produce more urine), but it also irritates the lining of your bladder, making it feel full and contract before it should -- in other words, pretty much the same symptoms as "overactive" bladder. Caffeine affects everybody in this way, but some people more than others... so if your bladder is overactive to begin with, or if it's just smaller than average, you'd feel the effects of caffeine more intensely than most other people would.

Anyway, there's no real health threat to this condition other than the annoyance of having to run to the bathroom so many times in a day... so really, it's up to you whether you see a doctor and try taking some meds for it, or just decide to put up with it. Meds do cost money, of course, and they do have some side effects, so you just need to decide if the benefits are worth more than the costs. If you're not sure, it probably can't hurt to try the meds for awhile and see if you like things better overall with the meds, or without.

Other than going to the doctor, try drinking water or juice instead of Coke, and just make sure you hit the bathroom whenever you're likely to be away from one for awhile, whether you feel like you need to or not... that way, your bladder will be fairly empty most of the time and it'll be less likely to get really uncomfortable/annoying when you do end up having to wait for a bit.

Good luck man, I feel ya...

Coke contains caffeine, which is a diuretic, which means it makes you go pee more often. I don't know how much you are drinking, and how much of that is coke, but you might try drinking ice water for a change and see what happens. You could have a urinary tract infection, or you could have diabetes. See a doctor to be sure.

I would google 'overactive bladder' and see what the symptoms are and if you still think you have it then i'd go see your doctor. I think i've seen a commercial for some kind of medicine to help that.

In the meantime, i'd drink less coke!!!

:)

Well, I'm healthy as a horse physically, but I do have Bipolar Disorder. But I don't use it as a label. And if you'd seen me growing up I don't think you could have denied that I seriously DO have a disease. But it does bother me when is over-diagnosed. I believe those people are malingering and have a desire to RECEIVE a label of some sort. I think you right. In fact, the only person I can think of who doesn't have a disease in my life is my husband. Thank goodness for that, really.

There is prescription medication (detrol), but once every 90 minutes isn't too bad. I have to whiz about every 20 minutes.
