She has been my college roommate since freshman year. She weighs 107 pounds and is 5' 7", and has been 102 pounds before. She does not think she is anorexic - yet she only eats one meal a day (dinner). She always says she's hungry, but she won't eat.

Confront her in seeking help by a doctor, nutritionist, or counselor. Because starving yourself will lead to many exposure to horrible diseases. Help her through this process because nobody can't do this alone. (Healthy weight range 125-145 pounds for girls who are 5'7")

Explain to her USDA guidelines and the list of diseases that you can get from vitamon deficiencies and how your digestive tract can quit functioning (my grandmother lost a section of intestine because she was eating poorly and not enough fruits/vegetables/grains daily). Humans evolved over hundreds of thousands of years on a diet of natural foods, if she is worried she can become a healthfood/organic nut but weight is more about excess amounts of bad foods and not enough exercise. Avoid sugars like fatty foods and especially soda is teh main thing. Even if she only ate her five FIVE servings of fresh fruits and vegeatbles (not canned) daily it will not make her fat in addition to that meal, but you also need proteins and vitamens you will only get from meat because we are all made up of meat and needs (within reason) to replace our own tissue. She is risking bone disease, skin problems, hair and teeth loss, etc. etc. even is she is popping supplement pills. Not to mention loss of brain activity, which is important if in college. And energy, does she have enough energy to participate in sports or walk around town or go out at night?

I wouldnt confront her about it, this would make things worse. Once my parents found out about my ED, its driven me to my lowest weights yet.Watch what she eats, and make sure if she isnt eating, that she is taking atleast a vitamin. How to do this I do now know, but tell her that if she takes it, then her hair(it might fall out in clumps) will look healthier. This might not make a huge difference but it will help her in the long run.

if you really think she's anorexic then set her down and ask her. even if she says no, say that you are always there for her and you can help her. if you dont think you can help her then ask a school counselor and then they should give her a number or a place to visit.. hope this helps best of luck to you

try and get her some help...i'm sure you have guidance counselors at the college...talk to them or someone who can help her...let her know that you really care about her and are concerned about her...if she won't accept your help there is nothing you can do for her...you cannot help those who don't want to be helped...do the best you can with her and support her with whatever she is going through and make her understand that someone cares about her..
