I'm very sorry.

My father has Alzheimer's and is in the last stages. It's a terrifying, depressing disease. The thing about Alzheimer's is that it can be so different from one patient to another. I can show you ten people with Alzheimer's and they can all have different symptoms and be at different stages. The link below contains some really good information about the disease:

Emphysema is a different disease entirely. According to Yahoo Health, Emphysema is a long-term (chronic), irreversible lung disease that occurs when the tiny air sacs in the lungs are damaged, usually as a result of long-term smoking. It causes difficulty breathing and shortness of breath that gets worse over time.

Emphysema is a form of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A rare type of emphysema is caused by the lack of a substance in the lungs called alpha1-antitrypsin. This type of emphysema is usually inherited.

No it's not Sweety and it's Emphysema, I have that. My father died of Alzheimer's. I don't know where to start because it's so complicated, long and not well understood.
It all depends on how fast it's moving, the rate I mean and what the damage is so far. Have you got her at home?
My father went through stages, fighting WW2 and seeing my mom when they were 17 and going together, had to be moved into private quarters to be safe from other guests (patients) then normal, wanted to come home, trim the roses for mom, she passed two years before. My sister looked exactly my mom, that didn't help.
I could go on and on, Hon but, it wouldn't help. The stiffness is probably Arthritis and Rheumatism, try Ibuprofen, keep away from Aleve, there's a law suit against them now, a class action.
If it's bad enough take her to doctor, a blood test will tell and how bad. Would ease her suffering, poor thing.

there will be days when she knows you and days that she dont know you.also will be times that you get her up in the morning and take her to the bathroom and she will ask you what does she do....hun just be patient with her and be there for her. she will be incontigent at times(wetting the bed). if and when that time comes, i strongly suggest you get her depends or the pullups for adults. im a nurse and the first patient i stayed with doing private duty nursing was an alzheimers patient.also if you get her to wear the pullups, there will be times where she tries to rinse them out or just throw them in the shower. she might try to hide things, like clothes, panties , money or shoes. the last stage of alzheimers will be she will start to have more and more weakness in her legs and fall alot more. if could get to the point that you would need a wheelchair for her.
