Yes. I know of at least one which is in Palos Verdes that is still actually called an Orphanage. Group homes are a bit different, but is what has become the norm rather than the traditional Orphanage.

yes there are orphanages today in-need of volunteers. Naturally, a background check is required of anyone working with children. I am touched by someone whiting to help out, even if it is in $ however small. YES, THE LOS ANGELES ORPHANAGE IS IN ROSEMEAD, CALIF. THE NAME: Maryvale. I had the prevailenge to finally find a real home.

Most if not all Calif counties have homes for orphans, wards of the court or abandoned children check with child welfare division of social services department in your county
