Can you share your stories? / how did you feel, did you have any emotion attached at first, maybe even before actually meeting?

I have. I met my fiance online years ago. We were friends first for a few years, now we're planning our wedding. He lives in Georgia and I'm in Canada. Its a long distance relationship, but we make it work. I'll be moving down there pretty soon. Not all relationships online work as great as our has. To make a long story short, online relationships can and do work out for people and I've known quite a few people who have had online relationships and are now married and have a great life together. Its not for everyone though.

I love this question because there are so many different answers. BUT I did meet my husband on line and couldn't be happier. we met on myspace and really felt an immediate attraction. We still feel the same way ( a year later ) I feel very lucky. I don't think it's something that happens to everyone when they meet on line but it can happen. The ony thing I really hate is that people think it's so wierd to meet other people on line so we never told anyone. I woulod rather online dating/meeting than in some sleezy bar where he could have been looking for a bed pal for the night.

yes. my best 2 relationships started thru internet chat lines..

spent many months e-mailing back and forth and really got to know each other.. phone calls started and that really helped shape the thoughts we had. meeting in person was really special. finally a chance to put a face to the name and all the things we had shared.. sort of strange though.. it's like you are meeting up with an old lost friend..

these girls were basically like a best friend before we even met. and the friendship-first approach really helped build solid foundation for the relationships..

just be careful when you get to know the person. make sure their stories match up, and if they aren't totally honest about everything, run the other way. lots of people on chatlines and dating sites who lie about why they really are..

Yes. We discovered one another "online" in December of 1996 on an internet bulletin board where only messages were posted. We became intrigued with one another's posts and I finally posted my email address (since it was an aol account that I could ditch and create another if I got too much undesirable mail as a result). He was the *only* one who emailed me (no one else probably believed it was a real address.) We began emailing each other which led to chat room conversations, then ($600-800/month) telephone conversations. We met for the first time January 1997. Once again in April 1997. In July 1997 I moved from Texas to California to be with him, and we were married 3 weeks later. We just celebrated our 9th anniversary in August of this year!

Sometimes online romances *do* work out!

Yes-----we 1st started emailing then using the IM and finally started seeing each other for a few months----it was real nice he just lived too far away for it to be a long term thing----drive three hours----spend time with me-----then scurry home to his wife-----i hate that he forgot to mention that last part.
