My husband was recently laid off and has finally found a job. We always counted on the xmas bonus from his employer but now will not get one. We are behind on our Bills and are trying to catch up. I am currently working and going to school. What I am making at my job is just enough to get the groceries and gas. Sorry to ramble...I am just so worried that my two children will not be able to have a christmas. Please let me know if you have any organizations in mind....we are from the Cincinnati area.

Thank You all for your answers!! After reading your responses, it really made me think about what is important! I am going to call around and see if there are any places that need volunteers.I think that we do all get carried away. I am really thankful that we do have a roof over our heads and food to eat. because many do not. Thank You again!!

Check the phone book or online for Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities, county social services, township social services, and various churches in the area. Most churches are glad to help and won't demand you become members. If all else fails, call or visit the reference department at your local public library. They have a list of area organizations that will help all year 'round, and not just at Christmas time.

This is one reason that belonging to a church community can be good. When you hit hard times, they can help. And... you can help others when you are doing better.

If you dont have a church group, try Salvation Army. For real... I buy shoes there all the time.

Also... this is America and as long as your children have a roof over their head and food to eat, they can skip gifts for one year.

I know its hard to think this way when we are all use to gift giving... but try and put it into perspective. In 10 years from now, all your kids will remember is if you and your husband loved them and if there was peace in your home.

You can also try calling one of these numbers... they can connect you to other organizations.

Hang in there!

I am confused by your statement, "my two children will not be able to have a Christmas" .

What do you mean "have a Christmas"? Christmas is not something you give somebody. You can have that whether or not anyone receives single gift. It might be a great time to volunteer in a soup kitchen together or to make gifts for each other.

Once I gave- at my grandmother's suggestion- what she called "white elephant" gifts. I gave things that already belonged to me. I wrapped them up and gave them to my friends. They loved the things I gave and it made me feel really good to make the sacrifice.
