My puppy is a pomeranian

best way I've found is to crate train the pup. Put him in an enclosed crate when you are not with him. The crate should be small since poms are small. Dogs are denning animals and they usually will not dirty where they live, thus the small crate. As soon as you take him out of the crate take him outside. Praise him for being a good boy and I always give a treat, (doggie cookie). Take him outside again if he has been playing vigerously, also as soon as he eats. Try and take him to the same place to potty on each walk so he can pick up his scent and "go" like a good boy. Good Luck!

Crate train the puppy. Get a crate about the same size as the puppy. I hope you don't plan on leaving him for 8 hours at a time? If you are gone this long arrange for someone to come in and walk him and play with him or come home on your lunch hour. Puppies can't hold it that long.

FIRST THING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THAT THE PUPPY HAS A SMALL BLADDER AND BOWEL. A PUPPY SHOULD GO OUTSIDE TWENTY MINUTES AFTER A MEAL (GIVE OR TAKE). AND YOU SHOULD TRY TO BE THERE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WHILE THIS IS TRAINING IS TAKING PLACE. MOST IMPORTANT IS TO TAKE THE PUP OUTSIDE TO GO POTTY AND THEN TAKE IT RIGHT BACK IN THE HOUSE. THE ONLY TIME YOU TAKE IT OUT IS TO GO POTTY AND NOT TO PLAY OUT THERE. SOON, THE PUP WILL LEARN THAT THAT'S WHAT HE IS EXPECTED TO DO WHEN HE'S OUTSIDE. CRATE HIM WHILE YOU ARE GONE BUT ASAP WHEN YOU GET HOME TAKE HIM OUT TO DO HIS BUSINESS ONLY. GOOD LUCK.

I have an 8.5 lb. Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. I litter box trained her from info on this site under "Crate Style Training". I got her at 8 weeks and started then. She is now 6 months and totally trained.

check into puppy litter. Try putting him in an xpen during the day while you're gone and give him a litter box. They can be trained easily to the litter and it's much better to leave him in an xpen with toys rather than in a crate all day while you're gone.

The dog should ideally be outside whilst you are not at home - therefore problem solved - unless you are living in a unit, not the greatest environment for a dog.

Crate train him ... Dogs consider the crate like a den and do not like to mess where they sleep ... I did it and it works great ... Just remember to let him out first thing when you get home ...
