The usual invite is worded as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Kunkle
request the honour of your presence
at the Wedding Mass at which their daughter
Amy Elizabeth Vadnais
and
Mr. William Michael Pratt
will be united in the Sacrament of Marriage
on Saturday, the eighth of December
Two Thousand and Seven
at five o’clock
Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church
Centreville, Virginia

The reception card looks like this:

Dinner Reception
following the ceremony
Hilton McLean Tyson’s Corner
7920 Jones Branch Drive
McLean, Virginia

There are variations for a church ceremony as opposed to an outdoor ceremony and a ceremony with a mass...it is also different depending on who is hosting the event. These are very general.

most wedding invites are worded something like this
the names of whoever's parents are paying(or paying the most) announce the wedding of thier son/daughter __name__ to __name__ the son/daughter off Mr* mrs. so & so on the date(written out formally) at __location name__ a reception will follow the ceremony at __ location if different from the ceremony__ also an RSVP date and number should be included at the end. if there is any special attire requiremtns,or no gift requests, this should be at the end of the invitation as well. basically, if you think it needs to be known, include it just to be safe

I would recommend visiting a printing store llike Kinkos as they will have not only the information but also some wording samples you can use. If this is your wedding that you writing invitations for, you definitely want to do the job correctly. Good Luck to you!!!

it depends on the style what you have room for . I had a very basic one here it is
Jill Smith and John Smith
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their parents,
Jane Lee Brown
to
Jason John Smith
on Sunday,the thirty-first of December
two thousand and six
at four o'clock in the afternoon
Bergman convention Centre
Calgary,Alberta

Reception to follow
six o'clock in the evening
at the Bergman Convention Centre
(names and locatuion have been changed for privacy)
my invites are one page and there wasn't room for anything else I had a separate respond postcard and got flack from my mom for that but, its 2 days until they are due back and only 4 haven't been returned.

be sure to include the bride and groom's full names, parents names are optional depending on what you want to do, include RSVP, a separate paper with directions.

Maybe a nice quote on the inner left side and ask them to RSVP.
