People have been predicting the world would end over and over but we are still here. Now the truth is with all science and theology no one can say when the world is going to end. It could end today it could end tomorrow it could end a thousand years from now. The Mayan Calender just runs out. that doesn't mean the world is going to end. God bless kisses Betty.

I thought it was going to end on Dec. 31 1999. No wait, it's ending in August this year when a new atom smasher is used for the first time at CERN which will create a black hole. No, it's definitely ending in 2012, or was it some other date. Honestly, nobody knows. 99% of people who claim to know have had it completely wrong. The other 1% of dates haven't occured yet (ie. 21/12/2012) I'm sure 100's of dates people claimed the world was going to end has passed and we're still here. Some Mayanists even claim the last day of the calender isn't until Dec 23 2012. Lots of inconsistencies, misinterpretations and people with too much time on their hands.

Who says the Mayan calendar basis is not good?

To not answer your question with merely a question, I'll answer this: I don't know of any other basis, besides the Mayan prediction, that supports this idea of the world ending in 2012.

When people go about asking questions such as that, there is at least a good reason for the end, as far as a good basis you will have to keep on reading calendars.

The Mayan calendar's end does NOT signify the world's end; rather, a great change will occur to the world, though exactly what will happen in that change is arcane knowledge.

No basis that I can think of. No man can predict when the world will end. Oh but they sure will try to tell you they can. Only God knows when the world will end.

No. The amount of hydrogen available to the sun to burn means that the Earth should last another five billion years or so, before being burnt up.

The world will end 102012... that is 100,000 years from now. The atmosphere of our beloved sun will encompass our earth around then. God has nothing to do with it, otherwise he'd be here now.
