There are better and more expensive products out there...but a 5mp camera should take good enough pictures for the average person. (2mp will give you a decent 4 x 6 picture.)

The printer is Lexmark's attempt at simplicity. It only uses 1 ink cartridge (the #1.) Photos print out pretty well if you take the time to set your printer properties properly.

For everyday use, you will probably be disappointed in the black print. This cartridge uses a "process black" by combining the 3 colors. It is more of a dark grey (green if you refill it with the wrong ink.)

Speaking of refilling...make sure you get the right kit--or you will get a very greenish black! The ink indicator won't reset, but you should be able to print until the cartridge gives out. Usually the print head dies!

eMail me or add details to your question, if you need more info.

your printer..is ok. I've seen decent lexmark printers and bad epson printers.

Vivitar cameras have always been known for their cheap 35MM models..and their digital's aren't much better. They usually feature medicore optics with a cheap inferior CMOS sensor. Someone said a good photographer can make a cheap camera look like a good camera..maybe with film..but with the digitals, espically the vivitar, your actual problem is the sensor being inferior and not quite up to full resolution.

They are not top line products but since you already have them just use them and don't worry about the labels. Concentrate on your photography technique and composition of your pictures. A good photographer can make a $100 camera look like a top of the line SLR and a bad photographer can make a Canon 5D look like a Kodak Brownie shooting old film.

If it's too late to return them, just use them. There are much better choices in both items, but if you already have them, use and enjoy. When they need replacing, do a little research before you buy, then enjoy using better stuff!
