Get a presciption for Differin (adapalene gel), manufactured by Galderma Labs. I used it a few years ago when I was a teenager. It's not cheap, but DANG, does it work! It's a whitish colored gel that you put on your face right before bed each night. It's not an antibiotic or a retinol, but it's a specialized acidic formula that absorbs rapidly into the skin and breaks up the bacteria and oil deposits. Trust me, if you have a serious case of acne, all those over-the- counter cleansers and seen-on-TV products are worthless! And so are Tetracycline, Cleocyn and Retin-A; not nearly strong enough. You NEED to see a dermatologist.

Hey, I use to have terrible acne too! But now its all cleared up, though i still get spot every now and then. This is what worked for me. (you may have to try a few things to find out what works, but stick to it for at least 30 days) Come up with a skin regimen: Face wash, toner, moisturizer Face wash: I love Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash $11 from the body shop. Or st.Ives green tea cleanser around $6 Toner: any toner you can find Moisturizer: I love aveeno clear complexion or aveeno postivley radient. You should also exfoiate once-twice a week You can also use lemon! I love lemon it will help clear up acne and any acne scars you may have. Just get a slice of lemon and rub into your skin for 2 minutes. A great homemade mask: 1 banana 1 tbsp honey lemon 1/2 c of oatmeal/oats Mix the banana and honey together and add a few drops of juice from the orange or lemon. Apply to face for 15 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water. *You also need to have a healthy diet. cut out any sodas and fried foods. try to eat fresh fruits and veggies. and lots of water (8 eight oz) and green tea and milk.* Wash, tone, moisturize your face 2 times a day. A mask once a week and efoilat once a week. Good Luck, and dont get to stressed, if will clear up soon! :)

Proactiv didn't work for my friend. I would see a doctor. I had the same problem that you have. I went to a doctor and he put me on pills. They may suggest Acutane but it has a lot of side effects. I use differin gel, clean and clear continious acne control (over the counter), and sporolocatone (pills). Good Luck, I know how frustrating it is.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

I had that problem too. Proactive only works for a little while and I use it on top of a vast array of other creams. I even had to advance to taking a pill that cleared my face up. that worked wonders!
But I would first go to a doctor and see what he/she says. You just might have to move to some stronger creams. Although, those worked for me and then they stopped and I had to move to something else.
Whatever happens, it might just be that you have really acne prone skin. It's going to take a lot of work to keep your face clear once it is but don't give up.
It'll happen...you just have to find what works for you.

You may be suffering from hormonal imbalance. Proactiv is only topical and doesn't cure. See a dermatologist. It can also mean you have toxins buit-up beneath your skin. You can try dabbing a drop of pure lavender essential oil onto the spots after each wash to dry them and keep them bacteria free as it has antisceptic properties. Try to avoid taking antibiotics as far as possible because it weakens your immune system in the long run. If it really is a matter of hormones, regulate it by taking evening primerose supplements regularly because it has the female hormone oestrogen-like content to improve your skin-texture.

Take some good supplements. avoid trans fatty acids, hydrogenated fats, red meats and excessive sugar. That should get you rolling. For a great book on exactly what you need to do to cure your acne then check this out, http://www.facemaster.net/thefacemastercourse.html

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
