I have an outdoor cat named Dudley. We just moved into this neighborhood and there are a lot of stray cats on the street. Problem is these cats are vicious. They attack Dudley repeatedly and try to take his food. They also try to tear open our garbage. We never had this problem before in our former neighborhood because the people fed their cats but not here. Dudley has been hurt several times by these stray cats and I don't know what to do to protect him.

Yep, you need to keep Dudley inside. At least in the daytime and close.
I know, that sounds like a miracle.
When you do let him out try to be with him and get him back in after he has done his 'dooty\duty'.
I have lost male ...and female cats to 'bully' cats. He used to come home everyday. Then every few days...and be really beat up. Now...I haven't seen him in over a year. (I did put out the posters and bullitins and all the different papers and the pound...AND I still keep looking).
Try to make his life as comfy and exciting as you can to be an indoor boy.
Is he fixed? ......... Just wondering.
Good luck..

The obvious answer is that you should bring your cat indoors. Or at least let him eat inside.

Strays can carry some nasty diseases and greatly harm your pet. If you care about his well being you will take him away from this harmful situation.

well what i would do is scince you dont want him getting hurt anymore is during the day when your home is maybe let him out in the backyard and watch to make sure there arn't any other cats in your backyard then at night let him sleep in the grage or some other part of the house eventually he will get used to it and it will be like hes on a scheduule so he knows when to come home.
