Put up no trespassing signs as well as beware of dog sign and tell the kids parents the same day that they had best explain to their kids that YOUR pit is NOT the kids play toy. They've gone out of their way to intimidate your dog enough with their behavior toward it that the dog can no longer be trusted not to bite and you do not appreciate it one bit.The signs are to deter the kids and if they get bitten while on your property or lure your dog off the property and get bitten you will NOT be responsible for their stupidity so they had better keep the kids away.If they choose to ignore your warning you will call social services and turn them in for neglect for not keeping the kids off your property and under control and if any harm befalls your dog the proper authorities will be given a complaint. What they've done to your dog this far can be considered abuse and it should stop today.
I'd also call the police dept.and explain what you're doing and why and see if an officer will accompany you to the neighbors for back-up should they get nasty with you.But at the very least have them file a report on your call-demand it-then explain that the kids are making your dog mean purposely. In effect they have ruined the dog as you did not want or ask for the dogs aggressive behavior but now you have to deal with it or get rid of the animal.Tell the cops whats been going on and how the dogs been harrassed.Go pick up a copy of your complaint as soon as it's done! Also every time you see these kids in your yard or annoying the dog call the police and whether they respond or not install a surveillance cameras so you have a tape of the kids IN YOUR YARD should the dog bite evan if it runs out of the yard and attacks you'll have proof that is admissible in court that the dog was harrassed and intimidated into tearing a kids face off.You know if that day comes the kids and the parents will all say they did nothing to bring on an attack. You have to cover your butt and your dogs here.So make sure you have your whole yard covered and can see at least half of their yard as well as into the street and don't stop with the cameras. When you see the kids annoying the dog run out and yell at them to leave the animal alone and get off your property.Get that on film several times and no judge in the world will rule against you.

It is YOUR responsibility to keep your dog contained. Humans are more important than dogs- especially children. Put up a fence to keep the dog in and the kids out. You took responsibility for the dog when you got it- so do so. If you cant or wont do what needs to be done to keep it and the people around it safe you don't need it. And if it does bite the kids - yeah you will get rid of it whether you want to or not. Obedience school might help out a lot too- train the little guy to know right from wrong. If the kids get hurt one day and the dog gets put down- who wins? Defiantly not the dog. :)

okay, firstly, I have a Pitbull but why the heck is your dog attacking anyone? that is not a normal behavior for a Pitbull and you are only contributing to the Hysteria that is running rampant causing Breed Specific Legislation nationwide.
For a 8 month old to be doing this is very concerning. Is he chained? I would not recommend getting rid of him but euthenizing him. you have allowed a potentially catastrophic situation to start and would be lucky if he does not end up on the news.
Maybe get him neutered aswell. if it is a female same thing applies. Email me anytime as I am not trying to be rude but as a Pitbull owner you represent this breed and have an influence on wether neighbors are going to demand that a BSL be passed due to your dog. THis is a serious problem , just look at Denver where thousands of Pits and Pit look alikes have been killed due to ignorance.

That's a tough one. Pits can be great dogs. They are very territorial though. It's not likely that he is going to stop attacking intruders. And though you might not think you should have to get rid of the dog because the kids should not be coming into your yard, if the dog does seriously hurt one of those kids are you going to be able to live with yourself?

You are right! Wait until he hurts one then you'll know EXACTLY what to do! What are you? The poster owner for BAD PITTS? Sheesh, Vanna buy a clue! This isn't about you and if your neighbors kids can get into your yard, that means your pit can get into theirs and if you know you have a problem with either, the law is that YOU MUST do something about it, since your dog ATTACKS SMALL CHILDREN AND YOU KNOW IT! Please, do yourself a favor, find another home for your pup, despite what you say, you are NOT A RESPONSIBLE OWNER and have NO BUSINESS OWNING A DOG YOU CANNOT OR WILL NOT CONTAIN! How selfish!

Are you crazy... if the dog at 8 months of age is attacking the neighbor kids that should tell you right there, there is something wrong with the dog.. as a human being WHY would you choose a dog over a human child.. something is wrong with you... if i was your neighbor you wouldn't have a choice about the dog...i would call somebody or take it up in my own hands,,,,

Whether the children come into your yard is not the problem. You should not have the dog outside unleashed, unless he is in a fenced yard. If the yard is fenced and the kids come over and open the gate and get inside, put a lock on the gate. What happens when your dog kills a kid? You will be sued for millions.

If you don't know how to train the dog then you should not have him. You are looking for a lawsuit from the neighbors. Yes, their kids should stay out of your yard. Talk to the parents and if that doesn't work, file a complaint for trespassing. You will loose your dog if you can't control it.

I definetely understand you. Of course, you shouldn't get rid of your dog in the first place. I don't know the reasons why the kids won't stay out of your yard, or why you haven't talked to their parents about it. The thing is that you need to make things clear because it is your dog, and it is your house as well. I own 2 pit bull puppies, and you don't know how much it bothers me when I see kids bugging and trying to play rough with them. I mean, people don't understand the reasons why ANY dog breed would try to attack (DEFEND) themselves when a "kid" or "adult" is being "annoying".....bad thing is that the dog is always the one to blame, especially if it's a pit bull. All I can tell you is to have those kids' parents know about your problem with your dog and the kids, so that your dog will feel comfortable being at "his" house. Trust me, kids are worse then dogs in many ways.
