My husband has had 2 pinched nerves for the past year and has put off the surgery to work & support our family. He has been in so much pain waiting for an O.K. to get this surgery. It is through Workers Comp. but he does not get paid for being off because it happened through a different job. He is going to have a device put in his lower back and wires in his back that will send tingling sensations instead of pain. We are not guaranteed this will even work. If it doesn't he will have to have a fussion done. He is the type of person that would do just about anything for enyone. We have been married for only 3-1/2 years. He doesn't know I am posting this. He doesn't want people knowing his personal business, but I don't know what else to do! Please help w/ suggestions or anything else you can ofer. Thanks, Ernieb

I know exactly what your going through. My father had a fusion done on his neck on Dec. 20 last year and now he's perfectly fine and he just hurts a little once in a while. His was done through worker comp too.

My advice would be:
-don't talk about life insurance
-enjoy the time you have now with him
-ask him what he would like to eat when he gets out of the hosptal
-ask what kind of movie he would like you to get to watch afterward
-don't watch tv tonight, spend some time togehter with your family
-tell him "I LOVE YOU" and thank him for putting up with so much and how brave he has been for dealing with the pain for so long.

If your worried about money you might be able to get some cash aid from the government if you need some help with the bills. You can look up human services in your local yellow pages.

Reach out to family, that's what they are for. Check with local social service agencies like Salvation Army or United way. Your community can help too. If you are a member of a church ask them for help. Everybodyneeds help sometimes your husband shouldn't be ashamed. Later in life you can help someone else. I pray that his pain lessons and that you find a way to have a good Christmas.

you need to get a worker comp lawyer if workers comp is paying for the surgery then they will pay a weekly paycheck when my husband hurt his leg his lawyer started his compensation he had a check the first week and drew a check for 10 months weekly plus mileage to and from the doctor if it happened 1 yr ago and he reported it you should have no problem if you act on it now thats all I can tell you maybe a church will help you. pay your bills

Can you get a job yourself? I find it hard to believe you have no recourse if this is truly a workman's comp injury. Ask the workman's comp people and see if you need a lawyer to pursue means of support. Get a job that works around your kid's schedule or get help with some occasional daycare for them.

I will pray for your husband tonight! Do you have a prayer group or some people that can pray for you? If so that is great. You should start making calls to them ASAP. Their is power in prayer and when 2 or more people touch and agree on a situation God really moves.
