I would do it and make sure you tell the neighbor. If the dog persists, you can call the cops on him and report it. He will have to use a leash or put up a fence- something along those lines. Some people are mean and train a dog to poop in other's yards. My neighbor did that when I lived at home until my dad started hitting the dog with a rubber band gun (my dad hates animals btw) and the dog stayed out of the yard from then on.
Any type of threatening will work, as long as it is not an agressive dog. Just running at it mad and yelling should do the trick. The hose is a nice idea though because the owner can see that the dog is wet..... What about some good old non-toxic paint in cups in your wife's flower beds- then the dog can get some paint inside the neighbor's house- revenge can be sweet.

i have had canines that LOVE the hose and canines that are frightened of it. So, the question you may want to ask your self is: Does my canines run away because he's afraid? Does he look to benefit from the water-play? in case you responded that he runs away and looks scared, then do not play with him with the hose. attempt, fairly, a large wash pan form field full of water. position a fave toy in the water and inspire him to get it or positioned the toy in and get it moist then supply it to him if he received't get it himself. you are able to gently coax him into likeing the water that way. Splash a touch on his paws and bypass from there SLOWLY. it would want to take time. purely not in any respect pressure a canines to do something purely because you imagine it will be exciting. If on the different hand he appears to be like having exciting - Have at it! purely be careful about the pressure of the spray and better ideal no longer to spray his face. too a lot water in the ears, nostril or mouth may reason issues.

Some dogs love to be sprayed with the hose! You may be accidently rewarding his bad behaviour and I don't think that was your intention.
I'm going to assume that you've already explained about his pooch's inappropriate behaviour on your property. Next step may have to be talking to your local animal control. They'll be listed in the yellow pages. It will help your case greatly if you note the day/time the dog is on your land, what it did and any discussions you have had with the dog's owner.

Good luck - I hate dog owners that don't pick up after their dogs, that let them bark, and don't spay/neuter them! Grrrrr!

It is fine to do that to a dog in your yard.

If the dog did not care, aim at his face or put a nozzle on the hose that will squirt the water harder. You are not going to hurt the dog doing this, but it should tick him off enough to leave your yard.

It probably won't hurt the dog, but don't be cruel and cause it mental issues. If you don't want the dog poopin in the flowers, you can use pepper or a dog away product that will cuase the dog to not want to sniff around your bushes. Tell you neighbor he can pay for the stuff you need to keep the dog from doing that.

It's fine to do so.Next time try and ask the neighbor to put soap on the dog before you do.That way you can give him a bath at the same time.I would gust let your neighbor's know about because they would proudly end up getting mad at you.You don't want that to happened do you?Put some tip of fence up.

my neighbor sprayed my brother's cat with a hose because she goes to his backyard and burries her poop there. i didnt care because she licked herself dry, but then my neighbor put a door hanger on our front door that says "i'm tired of picking up cat sh*t!" one day. you should just write a letter to your neighbor about the problems his/her dog is causing you and suggest obedience school or something. what my neighbor did to us is just shocking and rude, but it was actually my little brother's cat anyway and she ended up runninng away and we never saw her again.
if the dog LIKES being sprayed, then it'll probably think it's doing something good and will repeatedly do it.

NO BUT THINK ABOUT THE FEELINGS THE DOG HAS. WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET SPRAYED WITH THE HOSE IF YOU WERE A DOG? TRY TALKING WITH THE OWNER ABOUT IT.

I think it's fine. Talk to your neighbors. Tell them if you see it in your yard again, you'll file a report or try to have the dog picked up. Do you have leash laws where you live?
