My livingroom (15x20) is a peanut butter color and ceiling & trim is polar white. I have a center support beam (runs floor to ceiling across the middle of room), this beam is not good wood and must be painted but should I paint the same as walls or trim? HELP

I am a bit confused here. A support "beam" is a horizontal support overhead, supporting the floor structure above it. It will drop down from the underside of the ceiling like a bulkhead. If this is the case here, I would paint it polar white so it blends in with the ceiling and won't look like a racing stripe across it.
A support "column" runs vertically from "floor to ceiling" as you write, and is to support an overhead "beam". If it is a vertical support "column" like this, that you are referring to, I would paint it the peanut butter colour like the vertical face of the walls.
Good luck painting which ever one!.

you should paint the walls and ceiling the same color. However, it depends on what kind of "feeling or ambiance" you want the room to have. If walls and ceiling are painted all the same also the window/door frames the room will appear bigger. because there is no definition where the walls, ceiling and window/door frames come together it tricks you to believe that its larger. Light colors will make it more spacious or open while Dark (deep) colors will make it look warm and cozy. I love contrast so whatever color scheme/palette I choose i pick a light shade and a dark shade. Note: the colors that you pick out in the store will look totally different at your house so before you buy the paint take the sample home put it in the room during the lightest part of the day and at night when your light fixtures are on then choose your colors. Just for fun I pick the longest wall in the room and use that as the accent wall. Pick a third color from the fabrics or pictures that you are going to put in the room. I use this color also to paint the frames, or if you only use two colors i paint the frames oppisite colors. I like it,but experiment. Its just paint you can always cover it up. Paint the ceiling what ever color or way you want. Keep in mind though if your ceiling runs together where there is no door frames to define each space then you should paint the ceiling all one color. Could be an accent color or just one of the two you pick. Lighter makes it brighter and ceiling seems taller, darker makes it cozier and ceiling apears lower. Hope this helped. Or gave you some ideas.

The support beam will blend into the background better if it is the same color as the walls.

Painting it same colour as the walls will make it less noticeable
Painting it trim colour will make it stand out .
I would do it the same as the walls.

If you want it to stand out, go with the color of the ceiling.

Hmmmm....nice colors! Tough choice. I think I would use the PB if there are little hands or high traffic to avoid future problems.
