I can't say which branch to join, but I'll give you some real info regarding each branch.

NAVY: Great if you like to travel A LOT. You'll be on a ship for most of the year, and you'll go virutally everywhere. The downside is, you start off swabbing (cleaning) the deck and doing other manual labor for the first couple years. You'll also be greatly outnumbered by horny, desperate guys. Not all Navy jobs require you to be on a boat, though.

AIR FORCE: Also good for travel, but to a lesser extent. You'll still be surrounded by horny desperate guys, but you'll be on land, so they'll have other options. On occassion, you'll have to do some manual labor (about once a month, at the most), but you'll mainly be doing your AFSC job.

I am in the AF, so I'm biased. I'm glad with the choice I made. Basic traning is a joke, and my job will get me paid well when I get out. Also, we only deploy for 4-6 months at a time. Then, we get 15 months before we're even considered for another deployment.

Don't EVER listen to recruiters, though. They'll throw every lie and trick in the book at you to get you to join.

Good luck in your decision.

As a Veteran who has worked with all branches, if those are the two you want to choose from go with the Air Force.
They, on a whole, treat their people better, you would have more options of places to be stationed at, and you wouldn't be stuck on a boat for most of your time in the service.

Good luck with which ever you choose, and thank you for serving!

My brother recently retired from the Airforce after 30 years of service. He spent the majority of the time as a high ranking offical in DC and traveled the global. His final comment was that he would do it again in an Airforce Heatbeat (their heartbeat is at the speed of light).

Coast Guard!!!

Not only would you be alot safer then some of these other branches, but you would never have to leave the country, and if you do, you get sent to tropical places and some of the most beautiful places in the world.

not to mention that they are known to be the best at having equal opportunity's for woman, where others sometimes come up short!

I know what I picked, and WHY. I was Navy.
I went Navy because they had what I wanted. The best schools in the world in my chosen field. Do you really know what you want to do for a job? My advice to you is to decide what you want to do, find out who has what you want or need to accomplish this, then choose.

P.S. The Coast Guard DOES go, they just don't get much publicity.

I've heard that as a woman the best branch is the Air Force. My husband is in the Army and that's what I've heard a lot.

I'm partial to the Air Force, but one of my old bosses a retired Navy Chief used to say "If you want to have fun, Join the Navy, if you want to learn something, join the Air force".
