You don't say what is the name of the program that you are trying to install, or if it is in zip format.
There are many programs that Microsoft does not recognize has a valid program, or recognize the zip or rar program used to open the program. And this is why you are getting the error message in the Windows Installer.
Wish I could be of more help, need further info. related to the type of program you are trying to install.
Reinstall Windows Installer from Microsoft, or download the program from a different server, as it by be corrupt. If neither works, sorry unable to help you.

Hi. Is one program u trying to install or is windows installer in general giving u trouble? If so, microsoft have a new version of Windows Installer so u can download it. If is just the program, probably there was an error downloading the program and the setup is corrupted. Laterz!

try downloading a new version of windows installer from microsoft.com, install that, then rerun the program you're trying to install.
