I recommend seeing a psychiatrist. It sounds like you could have some generalized anxiety disorder accompanied with a phobia/obsession about death and possibly obsessive compulsive disorder. You very well may need medication along with counsel ling. However, don't think about it in the terms of "there is something wrong with you", a large portion of the world needs to seek the help of a psychiatrist from time to time.

I have exactly the same problem. When i am trying to get to sleep and my mind starts to relax and wander a bit thats when i get the most scared. Its so bad that i jump out of bed (almost like i got a fright) and then i walk around the house for about an hour. The only way i can deal with it is to think about something else. So, when i try to go to sleep and i feel the same thoughts coming into my head i block them. Instead, i think about a story. Like a series of events that i watch almost like a movie in my head to take my mind off the thought of dying. Its the only way i can get through it sometimes. So, imagine if you like someone and imagine yourself talking to them or imagine that you are out with them somewhere and it feels so much better. I usually have a couple of months where i have these thoughts every night and then they go away but i know they will come back.
I also have an anxiety disorder and panic attacks for which i am not medicated. I dont think medication is always the answer but professionals can help you with that.

If you really have a phobia about dying maybe you should talk to someone in the medical field. Everyone's going to die at some point and time in their life - it's something everyone will eventually succumb to - there's no getting out of it. But, it's not healthy for you to dwell on it day after day after day. It sounds like you might be a little hypochondria-tic - if you honestly think you have something wrong - go get a check up - if the Dr says your in good health - then thank God that your healthy and go about your daily life and be thankful that your healthy and try and not dwell on the dying. I know it's easier said than done - but, looking at it from my point of view - I think you just have a little phobia that can be easially fixed by positive thinking. Good luck to you and try and not worry, ok?

You know what it is very interesting you asked ths question because I was just reading a letter by a philosopher he said the only way you are going to be happy is if you don't fear death he said because death is nothing, seeing that, when we are alive, death has not come, and, when death has come, we are not. It is nothing, then, either to the living or to the dead, for with the living it is not and the dead exist no longer. So maybe this statement convinces you not to fear death anymore.

you need to quit worrying...death happens to everyone at some point in their life..you should see a therapist about your anxiety and they will help you find out what makes you worry so much about death....the number one reason why people are usually afraid of death is because they don't know what happens to them...is there an after life?? is there a heaven or hell?? where will i go?? are the main worries that everyone has...so maybe even investigating various relgions might help you to understand and over come your fear of death...or if you already have a religion...talk to some one about your concerns with death...email me if you want to talk more..

sounds just the opposite of me. But again, is your life something you look forword to? If its miserable, then maybe your afraid you cant die until you have made a difference. Or if you have just a phobia of dying, like unpeacefully. I wouldnt worry about it too much, although talking to a doctor/threapist is probably a good idea.
think optimisticlly.

Do you have a psychiatrist? If not, you should try to see one. Xanax may be able to calm you down a little. sort of like valium. I'm really sorry that you feel that way. It's gotta suck. Perhaps even better that a psychiatrist would be a psychologist therapist. That is if you don't already have one.
Good luck. Hang in there

worry will not help. when your time comes there is nothing going to help. the good Lord can ease it by just believing in Him. prayer can help! talk to a minister.
