that's odd, they usually send out the sheriff or a deputy to issue the warrant anyways
Well when you paid your ticket they should have given you a receipt, and if you paid with a check or money order you should have kept the stub of the money order or the bank has a copy /record of all the checks you have made. But call the court or go in person and show them that you did pay the ticket and court fee and they should clear things up, simple mistakes are done at times because people can forget to type in the info.
i just read some of the answers below and they shouldn't put you in jail if you have proof that you paid.

Do you have the receipt from paying the ticket? If you have that, you can go to where ever you paid the ticket and show them the receipt.
That happened to me a long time ago. I had gone to a driver's ed. class, though, fortunately. I took care of the ticket by mail, sending in my ticket and the court copy of my driver ed. completion certificate. I sent the whole package via certified mail, return receipt requested. I got the signed return receipt back a few days later. I'M SO GLAD I SAVED THAT PAPERWORK.
I got a warrant for my arrest about a month later. I had to go to the downtown police station, show them my receipt and another copy of my D.E. completion certificate ... Ultimately, they issued me a big receipt, and promised to show my green card to the judge.
Big hassle. Bright side: I'm not the only disorganized professional in this world.

This is a very simple solution, bro: that is, as long as you really DID pay the ticket. There is a phone nymber for the court clerk on the warrant notice you received. Just call it. They can pull up any payment records. I gotta warn you though: if you DID NOT pay it, don't even try to b.s. them and say you did. just go down and pay it ASAP! Don't worry--they won't take you into custody; they'd rather have the $$.

Try calling the court or office where you paid the ticket/fine. If you mailed it, then call your bank to see if the check was cashed or if it was a money order, you'll need to call the company who issued it. If the phone number is busy, you'll need to go directly into the courthouse or office where you first paid for it. If you didn't save your receipt & cannot prove it, then you must pay AGAIN of face going to jail for a few days/weeks/months.

If you have a receipt from the court, you can make a copy of it and mail it to who ever sent the letter, same with check or money order.
I would use postal money orders in the future,if they try to collect twice and you have a copy of the money order, they will have federal authorities to answer to.

take the receipt to the court house and hope they dont have the popo waiting for you. If you received a letter in the mail, be expecting them to knock on your door soon. Good luck

Take any and all paperwork to the courthouse or wherever you pay your tickets. There may be a glitch or you may have missed something. Hate to say it but you may end up going to jail if it can't be straightened out. Lawyer?

send a copy of the ticket and receipt to the COURT that you paid it to. dont call the police dept unless you want them knocking at your door. you could turn yourself in with receipt in hand also....but i wouldnt recommend that. :-)
