The real breed name is Doberman Pinscher...people only shorten it to Doberman or Dobie.

No difference it is two different names for the same breed. It is actually Dobermann (2 n's) in the countries that drop the Pinscher. In the countries that use Doberman Pinscher it is often shortened to Doberman (1 n) . The breed was named after its developer Louis Dobermann. Pinscher is the german word for terrier which is an incorrect classification for the breed so most countries have dropped the Pinscher from the name and corrected the spelling of the breed name by adding the second n on the end of Dobermann. If I remember correctly only the US and Canada still use the name Doberman Pinscher, most every other country uses Dobermann

Doberman Pinscher is the full name of the dog. A Pinscher is simply a category to identify several dogs (I dont know exactly what it is). A Doberman and a Doberman Pinscher is the exact same thing.

i think its all to do in whether ther ears are down or pinned as in pinned for doberman pinscher and doberman for ears that haven't been pinned that's what i always thought
i also know there is such thing as a miniature pinscher that is double of a doberman but ten times smaller and it comes in all the same colours as a doberman just thought it would help look on www.nextdaypets.com an look at puppies for sale and look at miniature pinschers and Doberman pinschers

The real breed name it Doberman Pinscher. Usually when people speak of this breed they just shorten it by saying Doberman or Dobe or Dobie. A magnifient breed I might add.

Well actually there are 2 breeds: the Pinscher and the Doberman. I don't know why but people call Dobermen 'Doberman Pinschers' and call Pinschers just pinschers
