me and my wife separated three weeks ago, i know that we will NOT be getting back together. When should I start looking for a companion?

Dating is fine. I don't think there is an actual timetable, but I would make sure the person you date knows your situation. Some may not understand that seperation is not permanent technically, even though divorce usually is.

well im not in your shoes but i think once you get out of a long term or serious relationship dont be in a hurry give it time and take care of you first and build your life into what you want for you then in time you will be ready for a permanent relationship and im not saying dont meet people or date around just be careful and try not to make the same mistake again even though it is very lonely at times starting over but just stay busy and find other things to fill your world and love will come again and you will know good luck CC

when you feel that you are over all the issues with your ex.

The guy I like slept with me before he was over his issues with her. It was messy and I wound up in the middle of a sh*tstorm I had nothing to do with.
