I need to put a check on all the booze I've been drinking, can you all help me with any non-alcoholic drinks I can order when I go out? Thanks much!

If you are at a business function and are feeling pressured to have a "drink" that looks like a cocktail, get gingerale. It looks like a mixed drink. If you have a chance, have a little chat with the bartender early on. My dad did this when he quit drinking and had to wine and dine customers. He would order drinks for everyone and ask for his "usual". The bartender would give him his gingerale on the rocks with a stirrer. No one ever figured it out.

If you're not in that situation, just ask for a virgin version of whatever you like. Most mixed drinks can be made in a nonalcoholic version. And check to see if you can get free soft drinks if you are the designated driver. Lots of bars are glad to do it. The others in your party will probably wind up buying more because they know they can count on you to get them home.

I would just order a soda. Most places will give it to you free, because they appreciate designated drivers.

If you order a virgin drink you will still get charged like you would for an alcoholic drink, and for what? A bunch of sugar, soda water, and artificial flavoring.

Tonic water, with ice and lemon, isn't bad. You could ask for a dash (no more than a few drops) of Angostura bitters in it.
If you have been a bit of a lager lout in the past, try Becks or Holsten non-alcoholic beer - they seem to be the best of the zero-alcohol lagers.

Ever heard of J2O? it's just fruit juice in a glass bottle. It looks like an alcho pop but it's not. It's totally non-alcoholic and tastes lovely.

I've heard someone say to order things like tonic and put it in a wine glass. You kinda fool yourself. Also non-alcoholic margaritas are great!

Definitely ask for St Clements - half fresh orange, half bitter lemon. Tastes delicious. Quite a few people still don't know what it is and assume it contains alcohol!

Enjoy.
