"Rastafarians believe dreadlocks to be supported by Leviticus 21:5, 'They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in the flesh.'" That's one reason.

Dating as far back as 2500 B.C., dreads were worn by spiritual tribes because they show a disregard for appearance and vanity. The Nazarite, Yogis and Gyanis were all bearers of dreadlocks and even John the Baptist developed dreads during the course of his religious life. Thus, dreadlocks have meaning and make a statement about nonconformity and vanity.

Dreadlocks originated from the Nazarite vow, which invloved no haircuts, no alcohol (or even grapes), no dead stuff, etc. The most prominant example is Sampson. He had 7 huge dread's. It has goone another direction over time, and I'm not educated enough to tell you how it relates to modern religion, but it ORIGINALLY was an easy way to maintain hair on your head if you took the vow of a Nazarite.

Dreadlocks describe the hair of descendents of the Africans of the African Slave Trade who see King James Version of the Bible as their Holy Book and regard Emperor Haile Selassie I the First as the descendent of Jesus Christ and accepted Selassie as their God in place of Jesus who they saw as a white man's God that was forced upon them in slavery.
It started off as a Back to Africa Movement with Marcus Garvey..
They use Ganga (marijuana) as a herb of wisdom that is permitted by the Bible.
The are known as Rastafarians and hail Selassie as Jah Rastafari, Jah being God of Israel.
They are peaceful people and do not eat meat that they consider as dead.
Bob Marley and Peter Tosh sang the Reggae in honour of their faith.
You can probably check them out on the net.

Why would you report someone for that? That is just so sad. And there is a question "What do dreadlocks mean?". Gosh you really have nothing better to do than report people.
Oh yeah, and by the way I heard about that aswell. I know it has to do with Ethiopia. I think they followed the prophet mohammed (pbuh) or something, or someone else I don't know. I forgot what I heard about this, but I know it links to ethiopia somehow.

there was the background was not in Jamaica but in fact in Africa and the saying was dreds tied up love and with every bounce released som and gained hater until it became nappy. The you would wash it and grease it and love again. The point was to remove hate from the world. Maybe thats why Africans are so fond of hair styles except the bald ones..
P.s I made this all up
but seriously africa is the motherland ohf not only hair and love
