There is quite an elaborate and wonderful story that mormons relate about the native americans. I don't know if they are right, but it sure is interesting and probably one of the kinder forms of christianity that I've seen. You should read some of their stuff, it's not bad!
btw: if they are right... I will be in the terrestial kingdom (third level heaven) with all my friends... picture bourbon street!

The Mormons are wrong, and recent DNA tests prove that Indians are Mongoloid, descending from Asian, and not Jewish ancestors. If they were Jewish they would be Eastern Mediterranean Caucasoid.
The Book of Mormon was Joseph Smith's attempt to answer a question on many Americans' minds back in the first quarter of the 19th century (1800s) about the origin of the American Indians. He had them leaving Israel in about 605 BC, and floating on rafts across the Mediterranean into the Atlantic and landing in Central America. It's one of the many myths of Mormonism

Why not ask the witnesses? The Hopi will tell you that they came across the ocean, not the Bering Straight. They will tell you of their white brother Pahana, who promised to return to them and restore their religion. Other tribes have similar stories.
