Turning 21 soon. Am planning on DJing a set for my friends. But I also plan on getting that ubiquitous first drink. So let's ask the friendly persons of the answers community: What should be my first? Keep in mind I don't plan on getting smashed, in fact my "first" will probably be my "only". And I've had sake before, it's alright.

Herndawg, I've never liked alcohol. I much prefer Mountain Dew.

JEN, champagne can be used to degrease engines and destroy drain clogs.

You don't plan on getting smashed . . . so stay away from things that have multiple types of liquor - like long island iced tea. Maybe you would enjoy a simple mix like Bacardi & cola or Grey Goose & Red Bull (would help you stay up & spin the tunes!)

BTW . . . must admit that I found this question b/c I HAD to look at the profile of someone who listens to Christopher Lawrence. Great taste . . . Tiesto, Ritchie Hawtin, etc. I'm impressed!

The standard, beer. But good beer. Try a Sam Adam's I promise you will not be disappointed. One beer is never enough, unless you have an allergy, as I do, to alcohol, to get you drunk.

But if you're going for a shot and a shot alone, Grey Goose is usually the "standard", but I never found it to live up to it's glory.

Tequila is and will always be, my favorite for just a little something!

But be safe and have fun! And although you say you will not drink, make sure you still have a good friend looking over you!

Kudos!

congratulations! finally 21.....but being an adult is being responsible for all of your actions, especially drincking.

so I would suggest to you what I did on my 21st birthday (many moons ago) go for a great beer...yup. I had Budweiser because I was sweating alot from all that dancing.

here's the rule of thumb. give yourself 1 hour between drinks. that way you'll enjoy the fun and the drink itself.

p.d. get a designated driver, or call a cab.

don't be so picky. Kick it off with beer, the ubiquitous drink of America and imbibe heartily as a display of dominance over a system where a man can die for his country before he can drink.

If beer can't cut it than I'd say a white russian.

1 part Kahlua
1 part vodka
1 part milk

On ice.

A Golden Margarita. Take it from a person who also loves Mountain Dew.

Then! if it is your first...and you say may be the only?

Do not follow the rest, in this world...set your own rules.

It doesn't have to be like...you do what every one else does?

Drink non-alco stuff!!! just to prove you are stronger than the rest.
I did it when your age..and younger, proved I was way smarter and stronger...then I could even have thought.
Being like everyone else...in my book! stinks....be a rebel, and don't go with the flow.

A cosmo or a martini- something celebratory. But if you don't like the taste of alcohol, maybe a daiquiri.
