I suspect you know this is true, but you wish it were otherwise. That is, you don't disagree -- but you'd like to be able to disagree.
I think the statement is completely true. Death is nothing to the dead -- since they no longer experience anything. But also, death is nothing to the living: Since we can only die once and there's absolutely nothing we can do to prevent it, there's nothing to be gained from wondering or worrying about death.

I think being dead and dying are too very different things. Once she's dead, she's not going to care. She will be in a better place and out of misery. Everyone has a basic need for survival, otherwise, people would have been extinct long ago.

If you want to disagree with the truth.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1Co 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Death doesn't matter to the dead, and the living prefer to pretend death doesn't exist. They even make up fantasy paradises for the dead to go to...

Say what?
I am sorry about your grandmother. I hope she has a relationship with Jesus so that she will go to heaven. Where ever she goes after she dies, she will care a great deal about. Heaven means eternity with God. Hell means eternity of suffering and pain.
